What We Do at Minehead Baptist Church

What We Do

Services

We meet for Worship Services on Sundays and include a wide range of worship styles, both old and new.

Refreshments are served between our two morning services to which all are welcome.

Why not come and join us!

Morning – 9.15am & 10.45am

The Morning Services are the main times of Worship and teaching. The two Services follow the same theme each week. Communion Services are normally held on the 1st Sunday of each month. An All Age Worship Service is held on the last Sunday of each month at the 10.45am Service.

Our Sunday School, Firestarters, meets on Sunday mornings during the 10.45am Service. Firestarters’ age range is from 3 – 16. We also have a Crèche for younger children.

Evening – Choices

Our Evening times of worship offer a chance for something different and often you’ll have a choice! These include times for different types of prayer, such as quiet and contemplative or craft based and special workshops or seminars.

A Communion Service is held on the 3rd Sunday of each month at 6pm and on the last Sunday of the Month we have Church@4 – see below.

To find out what’s happening this week, please see the Church Calendar.

Church@4

On the last Sunday of the month, instead of an evening Service, we have ‘Church@4′ at 4.00pm. This service lasts about an hour and is a more traditional service.

Church@4 is followed by a light tea which everyone is welcome to.

Small/Fellowship Groups

We have a variety of small Fellowship Groups that meet for Bible study and prayer at different times through the week. This includes a fortnightly Ladies group, for younger woman, known as ‘The Watering Hole’.

Please Contact Us for more information on these groups.

Prayer Meetings

As a Church we believe that prayer and Bible study are an essential part of our Christian lives.

We hold Prayer Times on Tuesday mornings and before the Sunday Morning Services. All are welcome. This is a time when come together as a fellowship to collectively communicate with God, offer Him our praise, pray for the needs of our fellowship, our town, our country, and our world, and seek the Lords guidance in our lives.

See when the Prayer Times are happening on the Church Calendar.

The Hub

In September 2012, we were given the opportunity to use a large hall and other rooms at another church premises; the former Alcombe Evangelical Church, next to the fire station on Hopcott Road.

Over the next few months lots of planning and doing happened and on Saturday 18th May 2013 The Hub was officially opened!

The Hub is a Youth and Family Centre with an indoor Soft Play Area, Coffee Bar and large and small rooms which can be used for conferences, worship, productions, etc.

The soft play area is open to the public, with an entrance charge, and available to hire for children’s parties. At other times the venue will be used for informal Christian children’s work and youth work.

The Active Living Centre

In January 2013, the running of ‘The Parks’ day centre was taken over by Minehead Baptist Church and is now called ‘The Parks Active Living Centre’.

The Active Living Centre is open on Wednesdays & Fridays from 9.30am to 3.00pm. Find out more about The Active Living Centre…

The Hope Centre

The Hope Centre works with the homeless, addicts and people affected by poverty. We help by providing a warm, welcoming, and relaxed meeting place where they can enjoy a hot meal, have a wash, or do their washing. We also aim to help people change their lives, so they can take their place back in society. The Hope Centre started as a project of the Church, but is now a charity in its own right!

Alpha Course

We aim to run the Alpha Course at least two times a year.

Alpha is an opportunity for anyone to explore the Christian faith in a relaxed setting over approximately ten thought-provoking weekly sessions.

We’re holding an Alpha Course in Autumn 2012, so if you’d like to come on the course, please contact us, find out a bit more or go to the Alpha website.
