Church Visit to Uganda

In February 2010 some people from Minehead Baptist Church are heading over to Uganda. They’re going to South West Uganda and will be visiting a project run by Compassion International, where 40 children who are sponsored by people in the Church live.

Here’s the itinerary and some prayer pointers:

DAY 1: Tuesday 9th February

  • Pray for safety in travel, good health and God’s protection.
  • Pray that God will develop strong relationships within the group and that we might be a blessing to one another.
  • Pray that God will speak to us about His heart for Uganda.

DAY 2: Wednesday 10th February

  • Pray for safety in travel, good health and God’s protection.
  • Pray for a good orientation session.
  • Pray that God will prepare our hearts for the day to come.
  • Pray for our visit to the Compassion office.
  • Pray that we may be blessing and an encouragement to the staff.

DAY 3: Thursday 11th February

  • Pray for safety in travel, good health and God’s protection.
  • Pray for our first project visit to Kirinda where most of our sponsored children are.
  • Pray that during our time at the project we would be a blessing to the project staff, the children and their families.
  • Pray for tonight when we have dinner with the formerly sponsored children that we will be an encouragement to them and more so them to us too.
  • Pray that God will bless their lives as they continue to serve Him.

DAY 4: Friday 12th February

  • Pray for safety in travel, good health and God’s protection.
  • Pray that we will be able to bless the staff, mothers, and babies of the Child Survival Programme we visit today.
  • Pray that we will shine God’s love into every home we visit.
  • Pray for tonight’s dinner with the pastors of Kirinda Full Gospel Church, that we will have wisdom that MBC should link with this church.
  • Pray for wisdom and direction for the pastors as they lead their churches.
  • Pray that we will be an encouragement to them.

DAY 5: Saturday 13th February

  • Pray for safety in travel, good health and God’s protection.
  • Pray as we visit the Kirinda project again that the children and staff would be blessed as we serve them lunch.
  • Pray that we will have word of encouragement and joy for the families we will meet.
  • Pray that we will shine God’s love into every home we visit.

DAY 6: Sunday 14th February

  • Pray for safety in travel, good health and God’s protection.
  • Pray we will have a blessed time worshipping (and for stamina!)
  • Pray God’s blessing over the entire congregation that we will be visiting.
  • Pray that God will use us as ambassadors for Jesus, that we will represent Him well as we interact with the congregation.
  • Pray for a relaxing and enjoyable time as we go sightseeing this afternoon.

DAY 7: Monday 15th February

  • Pray for safety and protection for the children as they travel to and from their homes to attend the Fun Day.
  • Pray that we can be a encouragement to the staff and children and enjoy our time at the Fun Day.
  • Pray for us as we spend time with our sponsored children today.
  • Pray that it will be a wonderful day of getting acquainted and building strong relationships.

DAY 8: Tuesday 16th February

  • Pray for safety in travel (back to Kampala and then to Entebbe for the journey home), good health and God’s protection.
  • Pray as we visit Nsambya Project, where Rachael’s sponsored child is, that we will rejoice at what God is doing in the children’s lives especially Loi.
    Pray for lunch with the Leadership and Development Programme students.

DAY 9: Wednesday 17th February

  • Pray for safety in travel (back home to and from the airport), good health and God’s protection.
  • Pray that we will have received vision and passion for the work of Compassion.
  • Pray that we will remember our experiences and the relationships we have built.
  • Pray that we would be able to share the hope we have seen through the love of Jesus with those back home.
